Guest Chef is a new restaurant with a new concept: a new chef every two weeks. Owner Scott Cameron opened this intimate restaurant with just 25 seats in Oakland’s Rockridge neighborhood. Every couple of weeks, the type of cuisine, quality of ingredients, serving sizes and menu prices are all in the hands of a chef du jour. This means you could either have a fantastic, flawless meal or be part of an unsuccessful experiment.
Open for dinner only Tuesday-Sunday, Guest Chef provides an entrée into the restaurant business for aspiring chefs while providing a unique dining experience. A profile of each upcoming guest chef can be found on the restaurant’s website. Chefs scheduled for June include Susie Farber and Dale Schmidt of Half Moon Bay, whose menu will include braised lamb shanks, filet mignon and seafood, as well as father-daughter team David and Maddy Hung with their “Marco Polo” modern Chinese-Italian cuisine.
